Today's stage starts from Rome's Darlington School, which was also the start of the 2005 Individual Time Trial. Rome and the school typically turn out a pretty good crowd, and as the picture (fromn 2005) at right shows, even the cheerleaders are there.
This was the first time I ever saw cheerleaders at a cycling event (and so far, the last). UCI, maybe this is why cycling is not generally a televised sport.
